मार्कण्डेय उवाच । पुरा कृतयुगे राजन्मानसो ब्रह्मणः सुतः । वेदवेदाङ्गतत्त्वज्ञो मरीचिर्नाम नामतः
mārkaṇḍeya uvāca | purā kṛtayuge rājanmānaso brahmaṇaḥ sutaḥ | vedavedāṅgatattvajño marīcirnāma nāmataḥ
ព្រះមារកណ្ឌេយៈមានព្រះវាចា៖ កាលពីបុរាណ ក្នុងក្រឹតយុគ ឱ ព្រះរាជា មានមនុស្សម្នាក់ឈ្មោះ មរីចិ ជាបុត្រមានសៈ (កើតពីចិត្ត) របស់ព្រះព្រហ្មា; គាត់ជាអ្នកដឹងច្បាស់នូវតត្ត្វៈនៃវេទ និងវេទាង្គ។
