श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच । शृणु राजन्यथावृत्तपुरा त्रेतायुगे क्षितौ । लोकपालोपमो राजा देवपन्नो महामतिः
śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca | śṛṇu rājanyathāvṛttapurā tretāyuge kṣitau | lokapālopamo rājā devapanno mahāmatiḥ
ព្រះមហាឫសី មារកណ្ឌេយ បានមានព្រះវាចា៖ ឱ ព្រះរាជា សូមស្តាប់អំពីហេតុការណ៍កាលបុរាណ នៅលើផែនដីក្នុងយុគត្រេតា។ មានព្រះមហាក្សត្រមហាបញ្ញា ដូចជាអ្នកអភិបាលលោក នាមថា ទេវបន្ន។
