मार्कण्डेय उवाच । पुरा कृतयुगस्यादौ दक्षिणे गिरिमुत्तमम् । विन्ध्यं सर्वगुणोपेतं नियतो नियताशनः
mārkaṇḍeya uvāca | purā kṛtayugasyādau dakṣiṇe girimuttamam | vindhyaṃ sarvaguṇopetaṃ niyato niyatāśanaḥ
មារកណ្ឌេយ បានពោលថា៖ «កាលពីបុរាណ នៅដើមក្រឹតយុគ នៅទិសខាងត្បូង ខ្ញុំបានទៅកាន់ភ្នំវិន្ធ្យដ៏ឧត្តម ដែលពេញលេញដោយគុណធម៌ទាំងអស់; ខ្ញុំរស់នៅដោយវិន័យ និងបរិភោគត្រឹមត្រូវ»។
