It declares Śiva as both the means and the end: the highest refuge (dhāma), the supreme attainment (gati), and the final culmination (kāṣṭhā). From a Śaiva Siddhānta lens, liberation is fulfilled in realizing and abiding in Pati (Śiva), the supreme Lord, as the ultimate reality beyond all limited bonds.
By affirming “Śiva alone” as the supreme goal, it supports Linga-worship and saguna-upāsanā as valid, grace-bearing approaches that lead the devotee toward the highest realization of Śiva’s transcendence. The Linga functions as the accessible focus through which devotion and contemplation mature into liberation centered on Śiva.
Single-pointed Śiva-anusandhāna is implied: steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), dhyāna on Śiva/Linga, and living with Śiva as the sole refuge and final aim—so that practice is oriented to mokṣa rather than worldly gain.
