Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Umā
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
It emphasizes that outer worship must be grounded in inner discipline: the sādhaka gathers the mind through saṅkalpa, recognizing that siddhis are subordinate to the higher Shaiva aim—steadfast orientation to Pati (Shiva) for liberation.
It points to a properly formed, auspicious emblem (liṅga) for Saguna worship—gem, gold, or crystal—indicating that a tangible form supports concentration and devotion while directing the mind toward Shiva’s transcendent reality.
A meditative saṅkalpa (intentional resolve) preceding worship, followed by choosing or installing a suitably marked linga (often crystal or gold) as an aid to dhyāna and steady upāsanā of Shiva.
