Suta Goswami (narrating the Vayaviya discourse; the verse is voiced as a supplicatory request within the narrative)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Significance: General Śaiva Siddhānta emphasis: boons and liberation arise by Śiva’s ājñā and anugraha, mediated through devotion and worship.
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
It emphasizes that fulfillment comes through Śiva’s grace mediated by His devotees who live by His command; in Shaiva Siddhanta, such grace (anugraha) arises when the soul aligns with Pati’s (Shiva’s) will.
The verse presumes an active community of Śiva-worshippers (śivārcana), which traditionally includes Linga worship as Saguna devotion—approaching Shiva through form, ritual, and reverent obedience to His injunctions.
A practical takeaway is disciplined śivārcana—daily worship with mantra-japa (especially the Panchakshara, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and a vow to follow Śiva’s ājñā (ethical restraint and devotional regularity) to become fit for receiving grace.
