Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Role: teaching
It teaches that the seeker’s inner “seat” for realizing Shiva (Pati) must rest on four pillars—ethical living (dharma), liberating insight (jñāna), freedom from craving (vairāgya), and the mature spiritual mastery (aiśvarya) that arises from grace and discipline.
In Linga-worship, the outer throne and pedestal symbolize inner preparation: the devotee establishes dharma, jñāna, and vairāgya so that Saguna worship ripens into direct recognition of Shiva’s lordship (aiśvarya) and leads toward union with the Supreme.
During Shiva-puja or japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), meditate that your mind is Shiva’s seat supported by dharma, jñāna, vairāgya, and aiśvarya—then offer the mantra and breath steadily, letting attachment fall away.
