Gaurī’s Entry and the Vision of Śiva
svadeśaṃ ca parityajya prasādārthaṃ samāgataḥ | yadi prītirabhūnmattaḥ parāṃ prītiṃ karoṣi me
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Role: liberating
It teaches that merely approaching Shiva is not enough; true spiritual progress comes when affection matures into parā-prīti—supreme devotion and surrender that invites Shiva’s prasāda (grace) and loosens the bonds (pāśa) of the soul (paśu).
The verse reflects Saguna-upāsanā: approaching Shiva as the gracious Lord who responds to devotion. Linga-worship becomes meaningful when external reverence turns into inner parā-bhakti—single-minded love directed to Shiva as Pati.
A practical takeaway is to intensify devotion through daily Panchakshara japa (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with a surrendered attitude, supported by Shaiva disciplines like Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa as aids to steady remembrance of Shiva’s grace.
