Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating the Rudra Saṃhitā account to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Significance: Establishes Śiva-liṅga worship as the primary gateway to auspiciousness and right order of devatā-upāsanā; supports pilgrimage/temple praxis centered on liṅga-darśana and abhiṣeka.
Type: panchakshara
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
It establishes Liṅga-ārādhana as the primary doorway into Śiva-bhakti, while also affirming respectful, orderly honoring of other devas as limbs of dharma—without displacing Śiva as the supreme Pati (Lord) in the Śaiva Siddhānta view.
The verse explicitly says Śiva-pūjā should be ‘liṅgārādhanapūrvikā’—beginning with Liṅga worship—indicating Saguna upāsanā through the Liṅga as the central, accessible form for devotion and ritual concentration.
A practical takeaway is to begin daily or festival worship with Liṅga-pūjā (abhisheka, offerings, mantra-japa such as the Pañcākṣarī ‘Om Namaḥ Śivāya’), and then offer respectful pūjā to Gaṇeśa, Sūrya, Viṣṇu, etc., strictly following vidhi (proper sequence and rules).
