It highlights guru-bhakti as a core purifier: even a great deity like Hari models humility—offering what he holds and carefully reciting names with devotion, showing that disciplined reverence is a doorway to Shiva’s grace.
Linga-worship in the Shiva Purana is transmitted through proper lineage and instruction; presenting offerings to the guru and reciting sacred names ‘specifically’ reflects the exactness (vidhi) and heartfelt devotion (bhāva) required in Saguna Shiva worship.
Perform guru-sevā and practice nāma-smaraṇa: respectfully offer what is meant for worship, then recite the sacred names/mantras attentively and with joy—an approach aligned with Shaiva devotional discipline.
