Nārada and Viṣṇu: Instruction after Delusion
śivecchayā na prabuddhaḥ smṛtvā harikṛtacchalam | krodhaṃ durviṣahaṃ kṛtvā viṣṇulokaṃ jagāma ha
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
The verse emphasizes Śiva-icchā (Śiva’s sovereign will): even awakening and reaction occur within the governance of Pati (Śiva). In a Shaiva Siddhanta lens, this underlines that cosmic events—including conflict—unfold under divine order, not mere personal impulse.
By highlighting Śiva’s will as the hidden regulator, the verse points to Saguna Śiva as the accessible Lord who actively directs the cosmos. Linga-worship trains the devotee to see beyond surface events (like ‘deception’ and ‘anger’) to the deeper presence of Śiva as the inner ruler.
A practical takeaway is anger-transformation through japa and restraint: daily Panchākṣarī japa ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) remembrance helps sublimate krodha into vigilance and devotion, aligning one’s will with Śiva-icchā.
