It declares Śiva’s supreme, dissolving power: the ‘Śaiva discus’ symbolizes the force of Śiva-tattva that dissolves aśaiva tendencies—ego, hostility to dharma, and resistance to Śiva-bhakti—leading the seeker toward liberation.
By affirming Śiva’s overriding sovereignty, it supports Saguna Śiva worship—especially Linga-upāsanā—as a direct means to align with Śiva’s grace, through which obstructive, non-Śaiva dispositions are ‘dissolved’ in devotion and right understanding.
A practical takeaway is steady Śiva-bhakti through japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and inner renunciation of aśaiva qualities; this ‘Śaiva chakra’ is realized as the cutting away of bondage (pāśa) in daily practice.
