It sanctifies Gaṇeśa’s manifestation by fixing it within sacred lunar time (Caturthī, Moonrise), teaching that divine grace operates through ritually meaningful cosmic rhythms and supports bhakti-based observance.
In Shaiva practice, Gaṇeśa is honored as Shiva’s gaṇa-lord and a guardian of auspicious beginnings; his worship supports Saguna Shiva devotion by removing obstacles before linga-pūjā and other Shaiva rites.
Observing Caturthī with evening worship at Moonrise—beginning with Gaṇeśa japa and offerings—serves as a preparatory vrata for focused Shiva-bhakti (often paired with mantra recitation such as the Pañcākṣarī).
