Suta Goswami (narrating the episode; the direct speech-act is by Narada to Shiva)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
It highlights bhakti expressed through humility—salutation (namaskāra) and joined palms (añjali)—as the proper inner posture for approaching Pati (Śiva), the supreme Lord, before seeking instruction or grace.
The verse models Saguna-upāsanā: the devotee directly venerates Maheśvara as Devadeva with reverent gestures, which is the same devotional attitude recommended while worshipping the Śiva-liṅga—approach, bow, and then pray or inquire.
Perform a mindful namaskāra with kṛtāñjali (añjali-mudrā) before Śiva worship or japa; begin practice by invoking devotion, then proceed to mantra-japa (such as the Pañcākṣarī) with a surrendered heart.
