The assembled devotees/attendants addressing Lord Shiva (as narrated by Suta Goswami)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Models śaraṇāgati: approaching Śiva, bowing, and requesting ājñā—seen as a direct means to receive guidance and grace.
Mantra: ājñāṃ dehi prabho
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
Offering: pushpa
It highlights śaraṇāgati (surrender): standing before Śiva, bowing, and asking for His ājñā shows that auspicious action begins by aligning one’s will with Pati (Śiva), the supreme guide and liberator.
The verse reflects Saguna-bhakti—approaching Śiva as the personal Lord who can be bowed to and addressed. In Liṅga worship, this same attitude appears as offering namaskāra and praying for Śiva’s sanction before undertaking vrata, pūjā, or service.
A practical takeaway is to begin worship with namaskāra and a brief prayer for Śiva’s guidance—optionally accompanied by japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”)—seeking inner permission to act in dharma and devotion.
