The Dialogue at the Gate: Gaṇeśa and Śiva’s Gaṇas
bhavadbhiśca sthitaṃ hyatra yadā bhavati niścitam | tadā bhavadbhiḥ karttavyaṃ śivājñāparipālanam
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Īśāna
The verse teaches that once a devotee’s inner resolve becomes steady, true spiritual maturity is shown by living in accordance with Śiva’s ājñā (divine command). In Shaiva Siddhanta terms, steadfast discipline and surrender to Pati (Śiva) loosen pāśa (bondage) and invite Śiva’s grace.
Linga-worship is not only ritual performance but also obedience to Śiva’s guidance. This verse emphasizes that devotion to Saguna Śiva—through His worship and instructions—must culminate in faithful observance of His command, making worship a lived commitment rather than a momentary act.
The practical takeaway is disciplined observance (paripālana) of Śiva’s injunctions—regular japa of the Panchākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), maintaining purity and dharma, and consistent daily worship—performed with firm resolve and devotion.
