FAQs

Hṛṣīkeśa is an epithet of Vishnu (often also used for Krishna), meaning “Lord of the senses,” indicating divine mastery and guidance over human faculties.

It expresses divine approval: the deity declares satisfaction with the devotee/king’s virtuous vows and disciplined conduct (vrata), implying that sincere devotion and ethical restraint are pleasing to God.

The verse highlights humility and reverence: even a powerful ruler attains grace through respectful surrender and righteous discipline rather than pride or mere authority.
