Ātmā (the Self) in reply to unnamed speakers
Concept: When beings seek alignment with the indwelling Self, the Self grants consent and blessing—divine grace harmonizes the inner order.
Application: In prayer or meditation, explicitly ask for inner alignment (maitrī) with the Self; accept outcomes as ‘evam astu’—a call to cooperate with dharma rather than resist it.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

The verse explicitly marks the speaker as “Ātmā” (the Self). In Purāṇic dialogue style, this can denote an inner authoritative voice or a revered interlocutor identified as the Self; the specific narrative identity depends on the surrounding verses.
It highlights maitri (friendship) as a sustained, deliberate ethical posture—seeking enduring goodwill rather than temporary alliance.
It serves as an affirmation or granting of consent/blessing: the speaker agrees and expresses that the listeners’ desired outcome should be fulfilled.
