Concept: Examine the brāhmaṇa first, then perform śrāddha and dāna properly; without a brāhmaṇa, the pitṛs do not accept the offerings.

Application: Before any important religious/charitable act, verify the guide’s integrity and your own preparedness; do fewer rites but do them correctly and sincerely.

FAQs

Because the rite’s efficacy is linked to inviting a qualified, appropriate brāhmaṇa; the text advises discernment so the śrāddha and dāna are performed correctly and with proper recipients.

It states that the Pitṛs (ancestors) do not partake of the offerings in the performer’s house when the rite is done without a brāhmaṇa.

Ritual duty should be done with care, right procedure, and suitable participants—discernment and sincerity matter, not mere outward performance.
