Sanatkumara (teaching Narada in a dharma-śāstra context)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
The verse stresses that Vedic ritual results depend on adhikāra (eligibility) and ācāra (right conduct); without these, even correctly performed nitya, naimittika, or kāmya rites do not yield their intended spiritual or dharmic fruit.
Indirectly, it points out the limitation of ritualism when inner discipline and rightful qualification are absent, thereby supporting the Purāṇic emphasis that sincere devotion and dharmic conduct are essential for spiritual progress beyond mere ritual performance.
It highlights the ritual classification used in Dharma-śāstra and Kalpa/Vedāṅga practice—nitya, naimittika, and kāmya karmas—along with the key principle of adhikāra that governs who can validly undertake certain Vedic rites.
