The verse underscores the Purāṇic idea that actions and ascetic power (here, a sage’s curse) have tangible consequences even for celestial beings; yet identity and social recognition continue through naming and lineage.
Primarily Vamśa (genealogy/lineages), with an implicit karmic-causal thread expressed through śāpa (curse) shaping embodied condition.
The ‘fire of the curse’ can be read symbolically as tapas/ṛṣi-śakti that refines or marks the subtle body; the apsaras-form suggests desire and allure, while the scorched body hints at the limitation and purification of sensuality under higher spiritual force.
