Daṇḍanīti and the King as the Cause of Yuga-Order (दण्डनीतिः राजधर्मश्च युगकारणत्वम्)

प्रवृद्धानां च वृक्षाणां शाखां प्रच्छेदयेत्‌ तथा । चैत्यानां सर्वथा त्याज्यमपि पत्रस्य पातनम्‌

pravṛddhānāṃ ca vṛkṣāṇāṃ śākhāṃ pracchedayet tathā | caityānāṃ sarvathā tyājyam api patrasya pātanam ||

ភីष្មៈបានមានព្រះវាចា៖ «ដើមឈើដែលលូតលាស់ខ្លាំង ហើយសាខារីកពាសពេញ អាចកាត់សាខាឲ្យសមរម្យបាន។ ប៉ុន្តែដើមឈើដែលពាក់ព័ន្ធនឹងទីសក្ការៈ (caitya) ត្រូវការពារយ៉ាងតឹងរឹងគ្រប់វិធី—មិនគួរឲ្យស្លឹកមួយសន្លឹកធ្លាក់សោះ»។
