Daṇḍanīti and the King as the Cause of Yuga-Order (दण्डनीतिः राजधर्मश्च युगकारणत्वम्)
दुर्गाणां चाभितो राजा मूलच्छेदं प्रकारयेत् । सर्वेषां क्षुद्रवृक्षाणां चैत्यवृक्षान् विवर्जयेत्
durgāṇāṃ cābhito rājā mūlacchedaṃ prakārayet | sarveṣāṃ kṣudravṛkṣāṇāṃ caityavṛkṣān vivarjayet ||
ភីṣ្មៈបានមានព្រះវាចា៖ «ព្រះមហាក្សត្រគួរឲ្យគេបំផ្លាញកន្លែងបន្ទាយតូចៗ និងទីលាក់ខ្លួនជុំវិញដែនដី ដោយដកឫសឲ្យអស់ពីគល់។ ដូចគ្នានេះដែរ គួរឲ្យកាប់ដើមឈើទាបៗ និងព្រៃស្មៅរុក្ខជាតិទាំងអស់—លើកលែងតែដើមឈើ ‘ចៃត្យ’ ដែលជាដើមឈើសក្ការៈពាក់ព័ន្ធនឹងស្ថានបូជា—ដើម្បីកុំឲ្យសត្រូវមានទីបាំង»។
