सहदेवद्न मे पुत्र: सदावेक्ष्यो वने वसन् । यथेदं व्यसन प्राप्प नायं सीदेन्महामति:
vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca | sahadevaṃ me putraḥ sadāvekṣyo vane vasan | yathedaṃ vyasanaṃ prāpya nāyaṃ sīden mahāmatiḥ ||
«កូនស្រីអើយ! នៅពេលរស់នៅក្នុងព្រៃ អ្នកត្រូវថែរក្សាកូនប្រុសខ្ញុំ សហទេវ ឲ្យបានជានិច្ច ដើម្បីឲ្យបុរសមានប្រាជ្ញាធំធេងនោះ មិនលង់ចូលក្នុងទុក្ខសោក ដោយសារវិបត្តិធ្ងន់នេះឡើយ»។
वैशमग्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharma as responsible care: in times of misfortune and exile, one must actively protect and support dependents so that they do not collapse into despair; ethical duty includes safeguarding another’s mental steadiness as well as physical well-being.
Amid the consequences of a grave crisis leading to forest-dwelling, the speaker conveys an instruction that Sahadeva, while living in the forest, should be continually looked after, so that he does not succumb to sorrow despite the calamity.
