उत्पातवर्णनम् (Utpāta-varṇanam) — Catalogue of Portents
उपायविजयं श्रेष्ठमाहुभेंदेन मध्यमम् । जघन्य एष विजयो यो युद्धेन विशाम्पते
upāyavijayaṁ śreṣṭham āhur bhedena madhyamam | jaghanya eṣa vijayo yo yuddhena viśāmpate rājān ||
វ្យាសបានមានព្រះវាចា៖ «ជ័យជំនះដែលទទួលបានដោយវិធីសាស្ត្រប្រុងប្រយ័ត្ន (នយោបាយ) គេប្រកាសថាល្អបំផុត។ ជ័យជំនះដែលឈ្នះដោយ “ភេទ” — បំបែកសត្រូវដោយបង្កឲ្យមានការខ្វែងគំនិត — គេចាត់ថាមធ្យម។ តែជ័យជំនះដែលសម្រេចដោយសង្គ្រាម ដោយការសម្លាប់ និងការបំផ្លាញ ឱ ព្រះអម្ចាស់នៃប្រជាជន ឱ ព្រះមហាក្សត្រ គឺជាជ័យជំនះទាបបំផុត»។
