Adhyāya 57: Tapas–Dāna Phala
On the Fruits of Austerity and Giving
क्वचिदप्सरसां संघान् गन्धर्वाणां च पार्थिव
kvacid apsarasāṃ saṅghān gandharvāṇāṃ ca pārthiva | pṛthvīnātha! kvacid jhuṇḍa-kī-jhuṇḍa apsarāḥ vihāraṃ kurvanti sma | kvacid gandharvāṇāṃ samudāyāḥ svapriyatamānām āliṅgana-pāśe baddhāḥ santi sma | tān sarvān rājā dadarśa | te kadācid enaṃ dṛśyante sma kadācin na dṛśyante sma ||
ភីṣ្មៈបានមានពាក្យថា៖ «ឱ ព្រះមហាក្សត្រ ម្ចាស់ផែនដី! កន្លែងខ្លះ មានក្រុមអប្សរាច្រើនក្រុមកំពុងលេងសប្បាយដោយរីករាយ; កន្លែងផ្សេងទៀត មានក្រុមគន្ធវៈជាប់រឹងក្នុងខ្សែព្រ័ត្រនៃការឱបក្រសោបរបស់ស្រីជាទីស្រឡាញ់។ ព្រះរាជាបានឃើញពួកគេទាំងអស់—ប៉ុន្តែពេលខ្លះទ្រង់ឃើញបាន ហើយពេលខ្លះទ្រង់មិនឃើញទេ»។
