मनुष्यान् शिवमन्विच्छंस्तस्मादेष शिव: स्मृत: । अथवा उनकी जटाका रूप धूम्र वर्णका है
manuṣyān śivam anvicchan tasmād eṣa śivaḥ smṛtaḥ |
វាយុបានមានព្រះវាចា៖ «ព្រោះព្រះអង្គស្វែងរកសេចក្តីសុខសាន្ត និងសេចក្តីចម្រើន (śiva) សម្រាប់មនុស្សលោក ដូច្នេះហើយទើបគេរំលឹកព្រះនាមថា ‘សិវៈ (Śiva)’»។ ហើយអត្ថបទបន្តពន្យល់ថា ព្រោះសក់ជាប់ជាខ្សែ (ជតា) លើព្រះសិរ្សមានពណ៌ដូចផ្សែង ទើបហៅថា ‘ធូរជដិ (Dhūrjaṭi)’; និងព្រោះដោយសកម្មភាពគ្រប់ប្រភេទ ព្រះអង្គលើកស្ទួយមនុស្សទាំងអស់ និងប្រាថ្នាសេចក្តីល្អសម្រាប់សត្វទាំងអស់ ដូច្នេះព្រះនាម ‘សិវៈ’ ក៏សមស្រប។
