Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
तामब्रवीद्धसन् देवो भविता वै सुतस्तव
tām abravīd hasan devo bhavitā vai sutas tava | devi mama kṛpayā kevalaṃ yajñasambandhīyāyāś caru-dravasya pāna-mātreṇa pati-sahāyaṃ vināpi te putro bhaviṣyati—na saṃśayaḥ | sa ca tava vaṃśe tavaiva nāmnā yathā-kāmaṃ khyātiṃ prāpsyati ||
ព្រះដ៏ទេវភាពបានញញឹមហើយមានព្រះបន្ទូលទៅនាងថា៖ «កូនប្រុសមួយនឹងកើតមកចំពោះអ្នកជាក់ជាមិនខាន។ ឱ ទេវី! ដោយព្រះគុណរបស់យើង គ្រាន់តែផឹកទឹកចារុ (caru) ដែលជាគ្រឿងបូជាយញ្ញា អ្នកនឹងទទួលបានកូនប្រុសមួយ ទោះគ្មានការរួមដៃពីប្តីក៏ដោយ—មិនមានសង្ស័យឡើយ។ ហើយក្នុងវង្សរបស់អ្នក គេនឹងល្បីល្បាញតាមឈ្មោះរបស់អ្នក ដូចដែលគេចង់បាន»។
