Sukta 1
prasū́ta índra pravátā háribhyāṃ prá te vájraḥ pramṛṇán etu śátrūn | jahí pratī́co anū́caḥ parā́co víṣvak satyáṃ kṛṇuhi cittám eṣām ||
Sent forth, O Indra, with thy two tawny steeds, with forward-rushing onset—let thy thunderbolt, crushing, go forth against the foes. Smite those that face us, those that follow after, those that are yonder: on every side make true (make effectual) the mind and purpose of these (our enemies).
Rishi: Indra-hymn tradition (Atharvanic redaction; specific r̥ṣi attribution depends on anukramaṇī tradition for AVŚ 3.1)
Devata: Indra (with vajra as his operative power)
Chandas: Triṣṭubh-like cadence (to be confirmed against pada count in the base recension; AV often preserves mixed/irregular triṣṭubh in Indraic battle verses)
{"primary_rasa":"vira","secondary_rasa":"raudra","emotional_arc":"From launching momentum to crushing strike and total directional dominance; ends with coercive ‘truth-making’ over enemy mind.","listener_experience":"Empowerment, readiness, and a sense of being protected on all sides.","intensity":8}
