Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Philosophy","secondary_vidya":"Mantra","practical_application":"Diagnose and dissolve bheda-buddhi (sense of difference) in meditation and self-inquiry to stabilize śānti (inner peace).","sutra_style":true}

Alamkara Type: Virodha (apparent contradiction: difference in the non-different)

Concept: Bheda-buddhi is avidyā; abheda-jñāna culminates in śānti as the highest śreyas.

Application: In nididhyāsana, whenever ‘I/other’ duality arises, treat it as a pratyaya to be negated by ‘neti-neti’ and by resting in witness-consciousness.

Khanda Section: Moksha-jnana / Advaita-Vedanta (Brahmavidya, Shanti-prakarana)

Primary Rasa: Śānta

Secondary Rasa: Adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A serene sage instructs a disciple: the ‘mist’ of dualistic thought dissolves, revealing a single luminous Self; the word ‘Śānti’ is implied as the culmination.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala temple mural style, calm āśrama setting, saffron-robed guru and seated śiṣya, subtle halo of non-dual light merging figures into one radiance, earthy reds and greens, minimal ornament, contemplative mood","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting, central luminous Brahman as abstract golden aura behind guru, rich gold leaf work, ornate borders, guru-śiṣya in front, symbolic veil of duality being lifted, deep maroons and greens","mysore_prompt":"Mysore painting, fine linework and soft shading, instructional guru pointing to heart-lotus, translucent overlay showing ‘bheda-pratyaya’ as fading script, restrained palette, emphasis on clarity and calm","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature, intimate study circle in a garden pavilion, delicate foliage, guru explaining non-duality, a faint mirrored reflection motif indicating abheda, detailed textiles, quiet restrained composition"}

FAQs

It imparts Brahmavidyā (knowledge of Brahman): identifying and relinquishing the pratyaya (mental notion) that superimposes difference (bheda-buddhi) upon the non-dual Supreme Self, as the practical route to peace (śānti).

Alongside ritual, polity, medicine, and arts, the Agni Purana also preserves concise Upanishadic-style moksha instruction—here summarizing a core Vedantic diagnostic (false cognition of difference) and its soteriological outcome (śānti and śreyas).

Spiritually, dissolving the cognition of separateness is presented as the highest welfare (śreyas), culminating in inner peace (śānti); it redirects karma-bound identity toward liberation through non-dual understanding.
