FAQs

It teaches standardized Sanskrit synonyms for clay (mṛttikā) and for ‘world’ (jagat/loka/bhuvana etc.), useful for accurate composition, recitation, and technical description in ritual and śāstric contexts.

By functioning like a nighaṇṭu (glossary), it preserves technical vocabulary and synonymy—supporting diverse Agni Purāṇa domains (ritual manuals, temple practice, medicine, polity, and poetics) through precise language.

Mastery of correct śabda (authoritative wording) is traditionally held to safeguard the efficacy of mantra/ritual speech and to reduce error (doṣa) in recitation, thereby supporting purity of practice and merit (puṇya).
