FAQs

Ayurvedic pharmaceutics: it prescribes a specific kvātha (decoction) using bitter-cooling and astringent drugs to reduce jvara (fever) and visphoṭa (eruptive skin disease).

It shows the Purana functioning as a practical handbook by embedding clinical Ayurvedic formulations (drug lists and dosage-form: kvātha) alongside its religious and cosmological material.

While primarily therapeutic, such prescriptions reflect dharmic care of the body as a support for sādhana and duty—restoring health helps sustain purity of conduct and continuity of religious practice.
