FAQs

It gives a practical Ayurvedic procedure: using mākṣika-based fumigation (dhūpa) to restore visibility/clarity, and applying an anointing oil prepared with camphor-water and pāṭalī root as a therapeutic topical formulation.

Alongside theology and ritual, the Agni Purana preserves applied medical know-how—specific ingredients, dosage-form concepts (dhūpa and taila), and plant-based pharmaceutics—showing its wide-ranging, handbook-like coverage of life sciences.

Even when primarily medical, such prescriptions are framed as purifying and restorative acts—using fragrant, cleansing substances (fumigation and camphor) that traditionally remove impurity and support bodily clarity, aligning health-maintenance with dharmic living.
