ऋषय ऊचुः । अभिषेकाय नो देव नदी पापप्रणाशिनी । विलोक्यते सुरश्रेष्ठ देहि नो वरमुत्तमम्
ṛṣaya ūcuḥ | abhiṣekāya no deva nadī pāpapraṇāśinī | vilokyate suraśreṣṭha dehi no varamuttamam
仙人たちは言った。「おお神よ、我らの聖なる灌頂沐浴(アビシェーカ)のため、罪を滅する河を求めます。神々の中の最勝者よ、この至上の恩寵を我らにお授けください。」
Ṛṣis
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra (requested: pāpa-praṇāśinī nadī within/for the kṣetra)
Type: kshetra
Scene: The sages, palms joined, petition Brahmā for a sin-destroying river suitable for abhiṣeka; in the background, a river begins to manifest or is indicated as a divine gift flowing toward the kṣetra.
Purification is sought not merely through effort but through sanctified sacred geography—rivers as vehicles of pāpa-kṣaya (sin-removal).
The request is for a pāpa-praṇāśinī nadī to support rites; within Prabhāsakṣetra Māhātmya this anticipates the establishment/recognition of a tīrtha-river.
Abhiṣeka and associated snāna (ritual bathing) are explicitly indicated, with the requirement of a sin-destroying river.
