hṛtāṃ śatrugaṇaiḥ patnīṃ pare pāre mahodadheḥ | na ca tvaṃ jñāyase sītāṃ śokopahacetanaḥ

敵の軍勢が汝の妻を大海の彼方の岸へと奪い去るとき、汝は彼女を見分けられぬ。悲嘆が心識を覆い尽くすゆえである。
