Gopīs
Tirtha: Requested ‘Saroत्तम’ (a superior lake)
Type: kund
Listener: Sages/assembly
Scene: The gopīs, humble yet intimate in devotion, plead with Kṛṣṇa to create a most excellent lake for them. Kṛṣṇa listens with compassionate composure; in the background, an envisioned lake takes form—steps, lotuses, and clear water symbolizing grace made tangible.
Devotees seek not only personal boons but enduring sacred institutions (tīrthas) that benefit many through the Lord’s grace.
A new ‘sarottama’ (excellent lake) is requested near the already-glorified Maya-saras in the Dvārakā region.
Implicitly, the establishment of a tīrtha for future snāna and worship; no detailed rite is specified in this verse.
