tasya madhyagataṃ liṃgaṃ śuklāṣṭamyāṃ sadā naraḥ | yaḥ paśyati kṣaṇaṃ dhyātvā narakaṃ sa na paśyati
その中央に安置されたリンガを――白分の八日(シュクラ―アシュタミー)に、心を凝らしてたとえ一瞬でも拝する者は、地獄を見ることがない。
Narrative context (continuation of Sūta’s account)
Tirtha: Dhundhumāreśvara (contextual central liṅga)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Ṛṣis at Naimiṣāraṇya (standard Sūta frame; contextual)
Scene: A central liṅga within a sacred precinct; a pilgrim stands with folded hands, eyes half-closed in dhyāna, on a bright lunar day; subtle aura of protection dispelling imagery of Yama’s realm.
Focused darśana combined with brief meditation at a sacred liṅga is extolled as powerful enough to avert hellish destinies.
The central liṅga of the famed shrine described in Adhyāya 37 (connected with the Duḥśīla prāsāda).
Darśana of the liṅga on Śuklāṣṭamī, accompanied by dhyāna (contemplation), even briefly.
