tānnivārya tataḥ skaṃdaḥ kruddhaḥ śaktimathādade | pātālāya mumocātha procya daityo nihanyatām
Lomaharṣaṇa Sūta (deduced from Māheśvarakhaṇḍa narrative style)
Scene: Skanda halts the rushing nāga-lords with an authoritative gesture, then in anger lifts the gleaming spear and hurls it toward the earth, commanding the demon’s death in Pātāla.
Divine power acts decisively to protect dharma; Skanda’s śakti symbolizes swift removal of adharma.
This verse sets up the origin-story that culminates in the Siddhakūpa/Siddheśvara tīrtha described later in the chapter.
No ritual is prescribed in this verse; it narrates the divine act leading to a future tīrtha.
