Sūrya (Ravi)
Tirtha: Kāśī-kṣetra (Paśupāśanāśana aspect)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Śiva
Scene: Sūrya praises Śiva as Nīlalohita and Dahana, with wondrous eyes (two-and-one, virūpa); Śiva’s hair is like the sky (Vyomakeśa), and the noose of bound beings is shown breaking apart.
Śiva destroys the bonds (pāśa) that bind the soul (paśu), fulfilling righteous aims and leading toward freedom.
The verse functions within Kāśī Khaṇḍa’s celebration of Śiva’s liberating power in Kāśī, the city famed for mokṣa.
The implied practice is devotion through nāma-stuti (praising Śiva by names) and surrender (namaskāra).
