कर्मणा येन केशाः स्युः स्निग्धाः कुसुमवर्षिणः । नाकारि कर्णवेधोस्य जनित्रा समये शुभे
karmaṇā yena keśāḥ syuḥ snigdhāḥ kusumavarṣiṇaḥ | nākāri karṇavedhosya janitrā samaye śubhe
（それは）髪を艶やかにし、花を降らすかのごとく（吉祥と美をもたらす）儀礼である――しかし両親は、しかるべき吉時に耳穿ちの儀（カルナヴェーダ）を行わなかった。
