punarūce kulivaraḥ saṃbhramāpa nnamānasaḥ | ucchvāsakāraṇaṃ brahmanbrūhi sarvārthakovida
すると山々の最勝者は、畏敬に満ちた心で再び語った。「おお婆羅門よ、あらゆる義を知る賢者よ、汝の嘆息の因を我に告げよ。」
Giri/Śaila (mountain personified, addressing the sage)
Tirtha: Kāśī
Type: kshetra
Listener: Śaunaka and other ṛṣis (traditional frame)
Scene: The mountain, still bowed yet eager, speaks again with awe, requesting the sage to explain the cause of his sigh; the sage remains composed, ready to teach.
Reverent inquiry is itself dharma; one should ask the wise with humility to understand deeper meanings.
The passage is within Kāśīkhaṇḍa’s praise of Kāśī, where sacred dialogue and wisdom-transmission are central.
No ritual is prescribed; the verse models praśna (respectful questioning) before a sage.
