彼はサンサーラの支配下にある一切の衆生を自らの統御に収め、またすべてに恩寵を授ける。かくして彼は、定められた死の時をも打ち克つ者である。
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Pashupatinatha
Type: mahamrityunjaya
Role: liberating
It presents Shiva as Pati—the Lord who both governs beings bound by saṁsāra (pāśa) and, through grace (prasāda), grants transcendence of death’s limiting power, pointing toward liberation rather than mere worldly protection.
Linga-worship approaches Shiva in a tangible, saguna focus while affirming his supreme, death-transcending sovereignty; devotion to the Linga is understood to invite Shiva’s prasāda, which loosens bondage to saṁsāra and fear of mortality.
Meditate on Shiva as Mṛtyuñjaya (the conqueror of death), combining steady japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with inner surrender for prasāda; if practiced ritually, it aligns well with Mahāśivarātri vrata and Linga-abhiṣeka.
