It defines pratibhā as a higher, inward mode of knowing that can grasp subtle or inaccessible realities—supporting the Shaiva view that purified consciousness can reflect truth as-it-is (yathātatham), aiding liberation-oriented discernment.
In Linga-upāsanā, the devotee moves from external form (saguṇa support) toward inner recognition of Shiva’s presence; pratibhā describes the inward clarity by which the seeker apprehends Shiva even when not available to ordinary senses.
It implies cultivating inward steadiness—japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with dhyāna—so the mind becomes subtle and capable of intuitive, reality-aligned insight (pratibhā).
