It praises Shiva as Pati—the unsurpassed Lord (paramaiśvarya) and the compassionate refuge (karuṇāspada). In Shaiva Siddhanta, this affirms that liberation arises by Shiva’s grace, as He alone is independent and unequalled.
The verse uses direct devotional acclamation (“jaya”) suited to Saguna worship—addressing Shiva as the compassionate, sovereign Lord who can be approached through the Linga as the accessible form of the transcendent Pati.
Recite this “jaya” praise as a short stotra before or after Linga-puja, ideally alongside japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), cultivating surrender to Shiva’s independence (svatantratā) and grace (karuṇā).
