It teaches that all reality is sustained by Shiva as the inner support, and that the universe is not separate from His pervasion—pointing to Shiva as the supreme Pati who governs and liberates the bound soul (paśu).
By listing Shiva’s names (Śarva, Bhava, Rudra, Ugra, Bhīma, Paśupati), the verse affirms Saguna worship—approaching the one Supreme through divine forms and epithets—while also implying the Linga’s meaning as the subtle, all-pervading support of the cosmos.
Meditate on Shiva as the ‘sutra’ (inner thread) within all beings while japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) is performed, contemplating Paśupati as the remover of bondage (pāśa) and bestower of moksha.
