शिवाचार्याभिषेकविधिः / Rite of Consecrating a Śiva-Teacher (Śivācārya Abhiṣeka)
भगवंस्त्वत्प्रसादेन देशिकोयं मया कृतः । अनुगृह्य त्वया देव दिव्याज्ञास्मै प्रदीयताम्
bhagavaṃstvatprasādena deśikoyaṃ mayā kṛtaḥ | anugṛhya tvayā deva divyājñāsmai pradīyatām
ああ福徳なる主よ、あなたの恩寵によって、私は相応しき導師(デーシカ)と成りました。ああデーヴァよ、憐れみを垂れ、彼に神聖なる命—あなたの聖なる許可と導き—を授け給え。
A devotee-disciple (narrative voice within the Vāyavīyasaṃhitā) addressing Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
It highlights that true spiritual authority arises from Shiva’s grace (anugraha), not mere personal effort—Shiva empowers the guru and permits the disciple’s onward progress toward liberation.
The verse reflects Saguna Shiva as the compassionate Lord who actively guides devotees—granting ‘divyājñā’ (divine sanction) that supports disciplined worship, including Linga-upāsanā under a qualified preceptor.
It implies dīkṣā and guru-guided sādhana—receiving Shiva-sanctioned instruction for mantra-japa (notably the Panchākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and steady devotional practice.
