Suta Goswami (narrating Shiva-worship instructions as preserved in the Vāyavīya Saṃhitā)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Mantra: nityam atra sthito bhava
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
Offering: dhupa
It teaches that worship is completed by heartfelt supplication and inner contemplation—inviting Pati (Śiva) to abide in the place of worship and then fixing the mind on His tejas, which purifies the bound soul (paśu) and loosens bondage (pāśa).
The instruction “be ever present here” aligns with āvāhana (invocation) in liṅga-pūjā and saguna-upāsanā—treating the worship-seat or liṅga as the sacred locus where Śiva is reverently invoked, then meditated upon as the luminous Śambhu.
Perform añjali (joined-palms prayer) as part of invocation, then practice dhyāna—remembering Śiva as ‘bhāsura’ (radiant). This pairs naturally with japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) during meditation.
