उपमन्युतपः-निवारणप्रसङ्गः / Śiva restrains Upamanyu’s tapas (Śiva disguised as Indra)
वायुरुवाच । एवमुक्तस्तदा तेन शक्रेण मुनिपुंगवः । वारयामि शिवे भक्तिमित्युवाच कृताञ्जलिः
vāyuruvāca | evamuktastadā tena śakreṇa munipuṃgavaḥ | vārayāmi śive bhaktimityuvāca kṛtāñjaliḥ
ヴāユは語った。そのときシャクラにそう告げられると、賢者の中の最勝者は合掌して答えた。「我は自らを慎みましょう。わがバクティはシヴァに堅く定まっております。」
Vayu
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
The verse highlights bhakti as a disciplining power: devotion to Pati (Śiva) naturally produces humility (kṛtāñjali) and self-restraint, loosening the bonds (pāśa) that bind the soul (paśu).
Although the Liṅga is not named here, the statement “my devotion is in Śiva” reflects steadfast orientation to Saguna Śiva—personal Lordship—through whom the devotee steadies mind and action, a core intent behind Liṅga-upāsanā in the Purāṇa.
The practical takeaway is inner restraint supported by devotion—commonly cultivated through japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and prayer with añjali (folded hands), aligning conduct with Śiva-bhakti.
