It reconciles Shiva’s transcendence (amūrta, formless) with His immanence (sarvamūrta, all-formed), teaching that the Supreme Pati remains beyond form yet compassionately becomes approachable through form to uplift devotees toward purification and liberation.
It supports Saguna worship as a grace-based means: the formless Shiva accepts a perceivable form—classically the Shiva-linga or divine icon—so the devotee can concentrate, offer devotion, and experience divine presence while understanding the Reality ultimately transcends all forms.
Practice steady bhakti with dhyāna on Shiva’s chosen form (often the Linga), accompanied by japa of the Panchakshara “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” treating the form as a compassionate doorway to the formless Absolute.
