Questions on Rudra’s Supremacy and His ‘Sonship’ to Brahmā
yo 'yaṃ devaḥ svakādaṃgādbrahmaviṣṇū purāsṛjat | sa eva hi tayornityaṃ yogakṣemakaraḥ prabhuḥ

Cosmic Event: cosmic emanation of Brahmā and Viṣṇu
It establishes Śiva as Pati—the supreme causal Lord—who originates and sustains even Brahmā and Viṣṇu, and who alone guarantees both spiritual attainment (yoga) and protection/preservation (kṣema) for all beings and cosmic powers.
By declaring Śiva the source and sustainer of the highest deities, it supports Saguna worship—especially Liṅga-upāsanā—as devotion to the supreme Lord who manifests for grace while remaining transcendent in essence.
A practical takeaway is steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with Śiva-bhakti, meditating on Śiva as the inner protector who grants both worldly stability and liberation-oriented progress.
